Clematis 'Eriostemon'

Nodding violet blue flowers on long stems carried in large quantities July to September. Any aspect. Clematis 'Eriostemon' Herbaceous in habit so remove all the top growth in spring, Starts off non clinging but as flowering approaches will attach, very good for growing through more delicate shrubs as it is easy to remove the prunings without damaging the host. The original plant was a hybrid of C. viticella and C. integrifolia in 1835 there are several clonal names of plants from the same cross, all belong within the C. viticella group ( and perhaps the herbaceous group also) They have now been given thier own section and are now known as the Clematis x diverifolia hybrids. It is a really good garden plant.
