Hydrangea peruviana x serratifoliaThis evergreen self clinging climber is slightly tender, as one of its parents Hydrangea peruviana would be considered too tender for the UK, this hybrid seems however to have inherited some of the tough qualities of H. serratifolia and some of the red flower colour of H. peruviana resulting in pink flowers, unlike the other climbing hydrangeas this appears to want to flower at various times of year particularly winter and spring, for this reason and because the young shoots and foliage will get browned by frost it does best in milder parts with some protection. There is a particularly well grown specimen at Tregrehan - Cornwall
