Clematis 'Bal Maiden'

Clematis 'Bal Maiden' is a tough small nodding red flowered viticella variety. Flowering between July and September is profuse. The scale of flowers and leaves make this useful for growing through smaller shrubs. It can be grown in any aspect and hard pruned in spring. Named after the women who worked at the surface of Cornish tin mines (usually widows) they had a tough reputation! Bred by us in 2000 from seed off C. 'Tango' and introduced in early 2004
