Passiflora tarminianaThis evergreen climber is native of South America but has become common in places like Madeira where it has established itself as a weed, at first glance it looks like Passiflora mollisima but the flowers open more widely and are for that reason more attractive to look at, the leaves are more pointy and less hairy but the fruit which looks very similar has a blander taste. Flowers best in cool but frost free conditions. Can be grown outside in the UK but only in the mildest of areas. |
